WSP wins prestigious Environmental Advisor of the Year 2010 award

06 January 2010

We are proud to announce that WSP Environment & Energy has won the prestigious and highly competitive Acquisitions Monthly (AQM) ‘Environmental Advisor of the Year 2010’ award. This is the second time we have won this accolade. It reflects our success through tough economic conditions and the value delivered through the breadth of advice we offer across all our global locations.

Our submission for the award detailed achievements including:

  1. Our work to support two of the most notable corporate transactions of the year, including the transaction that won the Private Equity Deal of the Year 2010 at the AQM awards, the divesture of In-Bev’s Central and Eastern European brewing business, worth a reported Euro 1.5 billion.
  2. Our advice on investment opportunities around green energy and green technologies, such as the advice given to the Asia Pacific Partnership reviewing 20 clean technology projects and our involvement in developing a ‘SuperGreen’ power station in the UK.
  3. Our efforts to help clients prepare for crucial business risks and forthcoming legislation, such as the UK Carbon Reduction Commitment, where in one case alone we identified energy savings that secured a return of investment in excess of 40% year-on-year.
  4. Our continued success in helping clients to take action on their sustainability imperatives, including projects such as assisting the US EPA Climate Leaders programme; working with the Airports Council International to develop a carbon accreditation scheme for European airports; and working with the City of Johannesburg on a climate change adaptation plan.

Speaking about the award, our Global Managing Director Stuart McLachlan commented, “I am delighted to have won such a well regarded award. One which recognises the commercial value our clients receive from the breadth of specialist advice we provide. This award, together with the accolade of Estates Gazette’s Green Property Advisor 2009 and the 2009 Climate Change Big Tick award, have given us much reason to celebrate. May I take this opportunity to thank our clients for choosing WSP,”

We will be joining hundreds of the M&A industry’s most senior figures at the award ceremony in London on 19th January where we will receive our award.

Keeping our clients informed…

Speaking on the importance of keeping clients informed, Global Head of Marketing at WSP, Graham Munday said, “We strive to shape market thinking, and not just react to it. We are passionate about keeping our clients abreast of the hot issues and latest thinking. We believe this is integral to the way we do business and we are delighted that this is also recognized in achieving an accolade such as Environmental Advisor of the Year. Most recently and in conjunction with BITC, we have published a comprehensive research paper on Attitudes to Living in a Low Carbon Future which is available for download. Other updates on topics including the Copenhagen discussions and moving towards a low water economy, are available from our website, www.wspenvironmental.com/newsroom.”
