As lead Consultant for the Rural Access Programme (RAP) in Nepal, WSP imc submitted the winning entry for the prestigious Global Roads Achievements Award for Advocacy organised by the International Roads Federation. The Award was presented at a ceremony in Washington, USA, on 11 January.
This two-minute video was played at the Award ceremony (Click here to view video clip) It is an excellent representation of the type of work WSP imc is involved in, showing how the roads are built and highlighting how, via the RAP, WSP is improving the livelihoods of some of the poorest people in the world.
WSP imc has led the RAP Design and Implementation Teams since the beginning of the first phase from 2000 to 2008, when, notwithstanding the challenges of a dangerous period of Maoist insurgency, they delivered 357 km of district roads and 276 km of feeder roads. The second phase which is due for completion in 2011 aims to build a further 365 km of district roads.
